A Day in the Life of…
Every day varies slightly because no day of classes is the same, however, I have a general routine. I usually get up around 9, unless it is Monday because I have a 9am class that day. I make a quick breakfast in my room and get ready for the day. I attend my classes and if I have a break in between classes, I usually go home for lunch or to relax for a minute. Fortunately, I had a quick 5-minute walk to all of my classes, so coming and going from home was very easy. Sometimes during my breaks, I would also Skype family or friends from home. Because of the time difference, this was usually a good time to do this. Oftentimes during my breaks, I would also meet up with friends and grab a quick bite to eat or a cup of coffee.
In the afternoon if I was not in class, I usually tried to go to the gym or for a run, though I often failed to do this. One of my courses required a semester long group project so we often met up several afternoons a week to work on that. After I would make dinner for myself in my room and then get some studying done either in the common room or the study room adjacent to my building. In all of my courses, the finals were weighted very heavily and there was very little in-course assessments so constant studying was not necessary. This allowed me to go out for dinner or into the city for a quick excursion quite often. For example, the first couple Wednesdays of the semester, my friends and I went into the city for the Queen Victoria Night Markets, where there was food from around the world and other fun stalls to peruse. A couple of times I went down to St. Kilda to watch the sunset and to see the little penguins come onto shore for the evening as well. Regardless of the evening, I typically tried to be in bed by midnight in order to get a good night’s sleep.
