A Typical day in Granada

On a typical weekday in Granada, I wake up around 7:30am. Now that the temperature has dropped, getting out of bed is much more difficult task than it used to be. I usually make some coffee and eggs in my apartment and get dressed, and am running to class to get there for my 8:30am Grammar class.

I have 3 classes in a row, ending at 2:30pm, and then return home for lunch. One of my flatmates is usually home for lunch at the same time, so we eat together and watch the news. Although it is quite common to take a little siesta- or nap- after lunch, I like to get out of the house and walk around a bit. Granada, although it feels quite small, has many different neighborhoods and areas that are fun to explore even by yourself. I like to walk along the river, do some shopping, or read outside of the cathedral.

Afterwards, when my friends wake up from their naps, we meet up at our favorite cafe, Qarmita, to do some studying. We drink tea and sometimes get cake and help each other with our Spanish homework, and then usually all go back home for dinner around 8:30pm. I eat dinner alone, or sometimes a friend will come over and cook with me and watch a film here, or go out afterwards for a glass of wine.

My routine here isn’t that much different from in Boston, the biggest difference is that while in Granada, I have a lot more free time since I am not also working outside of school. This is great because everyday I am able to walk around and discover new things in this city.
