A Day in the Life: Rome
My typical day here starts at around 8:30 am. I wake up, take a shower and make myself a cereal bowl with milk and cereal I bought at the supermarket. After I finish eating, I walk or take the train to my onsite class, depending on where the professor is meeting us that day. I usually arrive at the site and find my other classmates about ten minutes before class starts.
Then, I go around Rome with my class and see amazing sites and learn cool history. Class ends at 11:15. Then, I walk or take the train home and make myself some lunch while watching something on my phone or on Netflix. I usually cook pasta, make a sandwich or eat a salad. After lunch, I usually either finish up some reading for my next class or take a nap. Then, I have a cappuccino to wake me up for the next class, which starts at 2PM.
My second class is at the Tiber Campus, so I walk there and enjoy learning in the air-conditioned room. After the second class, what I do really depends. If I have some homework due the next day, I will stay on campus and use the computers and printers there. If not, I either go walking around with some friend, or by myself. It really depends on if I can find someone to go with me and if I have homework to do.
I like to walk by myself everywhere and simply look at stores, restaurants, people eating dinner, street artists, the sunset, etc. I find that doing that relaxes me a lot, and not having someone with you all the time actually allows for a lot of contemplation of the city without any distractions. I actually hiked up Janiculum Hill the other day by myself and the view from it was amazing. When I go on those walks, I usually buy myself a gelato or a tiramisu cup.
After doing any of those things, I will usually come home, cook myself a light dinner, read something or watch a movie. I call my parents once I week to let them know how I am doing and I also Skype my boyfriend who is in Boston right now. Then, I usually take a shower and go to bed.
