Going Abroad While Being Abroad
Traveling was my favorite part of being abroad. Though I hate the actual process of traveling since I am inclined to get motion sickness and sea sickness, I love visiting new places. My favorite places in Victoria, the state that Melbourne is located in, were Wilson’s Promenade and Phillip Island. Both were absolutely beautiful and stunning, and I did not have enough time in either location. Outside of Melbourne, I travelled to Gold Coast, Cairns, Sydney, and New Zealand. By far my favorite place to visit was New Zealand. No part of New Zealand isn’t absolutely stunningly beautiful. The scenery and nature was unlike anything I had ever seen before. One day, my friend and I hiked to the peak of a mountain. The journey took 3.5 hours up and about 2 hours down, but the views were unbelievably rewarding. Everywhere we went, there was a beautiful view with green mountains and bright blue water. I have never seen such a beautiful place.
Another one of my favorite trips was my time in Sydney. Sydney, unlike Melbourne, lives up to the Australian stereotypes: the accent, the beaches, the nice weather, the beautiful, fit, and friendly people, and all of the iconic landmarks. Sydney is home to the famous Sydney Opera house and the Sydney Harbor bridge. The icebergs and Bondi beach are also famous landmarks. Sydney is truly the epitome of Australia, and I felt that as soon as I arrived there. The botanical gardens in Sydney are not only beautiful, they also offer wonderful views of the Opera House. The entire city, including Bondi, has such a home-y feel to it. Sydney also offers several beautiful beaches with plenty of sunshine and warmth, and I love nothing more than a good beach day. The food in Sydney was also delicious. In my 5 days there, I found that Sydney is able to execute well on every type of cuisine and every meal.
