Great expectations!
I have always relished the opportunity to visit different countries and learn about their culture. For me, there is no better way to appreciate a culture than to be fully immersed in it. This is why I have decided to study abroad.
My goals are geared towards my personal and professional development. These include the opportunity to:
• Travel and meet a diverse range of people;
• Foster a useful knowledge of different cultures;
• Cultivate an awareness of global issues and examine them through the eyes of the indigenes;
• Develop my language skills;
• Become an independent and proactive adult.
I expect to achieve these goals by keeping an open mind and being willing to step out of my comfort zone. This is important when one is being immersed in a new culture, because it enables you to be more receptive to the fact that there is so much you do not know! In the process, your self-confidence is boosted, since you are neither held back by your own customs and beliefs, nor those of the new culture. Stepping out of my comfort zone will ensure that I try new things and remain open to the experiences that come my way. It will also help me adapt to my new environment more quickly and comfortably.
I know this might be hard to believe, but I have absolutely no fears or apprehensions about this trip (or at least, none that I can think of). I’m just ready to dive right into it all!
On this Dialogue, I am especially looking forward to meeting new people, establishing long-lasting friendships and visiting countries I haven’t visited before. By practicing my spoken French daily and being fully immersed in the culture, I hope to attain significant fluency in the language by the end of program. This dialogue will also enable me to gain valuable life skills, adapt to unfamiliar situations and environments with ease, and acquire an adventurous and indomitable spirit.
I can’t wait to begin this journey, and I am confident that it will have a profound impact on me!
