Housing and Classmates

So I am staying at Sciennes Place which is an apartment complex about a 10 minute walk from the University of Edinburgh. I am rooming with 4 other girls, and we each get our own single! The rooms resemble your average college dorm room, the kitchen is huge and has all the appliances we need, and the view from the window is amazing! The only problem was that it gets pretty cold at night so I have to keep the heater on. But our apartment gets cleaned once a week so we don’t really have to worry much about that which is nice.

It has been easier than i thought it would be. Everyone has been so friendly and open and after just a day, I already know that the rest of this trip will be a blast with these people. I am excited to get to know everyone better and learn and experience this city together.

My program while on this DOC is Field Study of Economic Integration. My biggest study abroad goal is just to become culturally aware of how different everything is in Scotland. I hope to learn lots about the traditions and customs of the locals and just to see how their way of life is. This opportunity is more than just the classroom experience, it is something that I hope will shape me into a more aware and open-minded individual. I chose to study abroad to push myself out of my comfort zone. I live relatively close to Northeastern so I have never really had to adapt to a new environment when I came to college. This experience will hopefully give me the responsibility of adjusting to a new location graphically and culturally.
