The Art of Budgeting & Traveling
I made a few Chilean friends early on through the host brother of one of fellow exchange students. We have made a good group of Chilean friends through this connection and we often hang out together and go out sometimes. They are a lot of fun and are able to really show us the Chilean lifestyle!
I have bought a lot of interesting things. Trying to not accumulate too much stuff as my suitcase was pretty packed to begin with, but there are many tempting things that I struggle to resist. But, travel souvenirs are definitely worth it. Went to Montevideo in Uruguay this past weekend and bought some really interesting artwork. They’re old prints from Uruguayan artists and are really beautiful.
Adjusting to a different currency is no problem really, just is a matter of time. Sticking to a budget on the other hand… Only joking. Partly. I’ve been pretty good about budgeting my money. I tried to anticipate what were going to be some of my bigger expenses and then was able to devise a daily budget. I use an app on my iPhone called Trail Wallet, that lets you input expenses very easily to keep track of how you’re doing. It has definitely been very helpful.
