Transportation in Barcelona

One of the major plus points of Barcelona is the fantastic public transport system. Whether I need to go somewhere 10 minutes away or to the airport 30 minutes away, there is public transport at any time of day or night. The city is very well connected by metro and public buses. The metro is open until midnight on week days, until 2 am on Friday nights and all night on Saturdays. Public buses have regular day buses and night buses that run through night. Reaching the airport via public transport is very easy and cost-effective. There is an aerobus running from the center of the city (Plaça de Catalunya), starting early in the morning and runs until quite late. This makes it easy for all of us as students who are yearning to travel the rest of Europe during our time here! Taxis are always an option as well, they are easy to hail, wherever in the city you are and at whatever time. Public transport is especially a blessing to reach places which are going to very crowded, Camp Nou Stadium for example, before and after an FC Barcelona soccer game!

ASA has been very helpful and provided each of us with a train ticket that lasts until the end of March during which time we have unlimited swipes. This has been useful for many of my friends who don’t live walking distance from either campus (Eixample or Sant Pau) and need to take the metro. I live on the same street as the Sant Pau campus, which is where all my classes are and so I just need to walk down the street for 5 minutes to reach the university building, it is most certainly a convenient arrangement ☺
