Typical Day Broken Down
8:30am – Leave my dorm and bike to TU Delft Campus, about a 12-minute ride away
8:45am – Head upstairs to the classroom, we got free coffee every morning from the staff coffee machines but you had to get there before class started at 9!
9:00am – Lecture for the day starts, could be about cycle tracks, public transit, roundabouts, pretty much anything transportation related. At this point we would also get an assignment for the day’s outing
10:30am – Head out to our outing location of the day as a group, also time for a snack because we usually don’t eat lunch until around 1pm
11:00am – Hit the first stop of our outing for the day, stop for some discussion and pictures. Stops like this one continue for about 2 hours.
1:00pm – Finally time for lunch! We would usually stop around an area with a lot of shops and little places to grab something quick to eat. Lunch could be Doner, Herring, or a collection of meat and cheese bought at the local grocery store. Followed by ice cream of course.
2:00pm – Head back to class, maybe hit one or two more stops on the way there.
2:45pm – Get to work on our group assignment for the day. This usually involved making a blog page for the trip’s WordPress account.
5:30pm – Finish group work for the day, head back to our dorms to take a nap or just chill out.
7:00pm – Either make a family style dinner in one of the communal kitchens or head out to one of the many restaurants in Delft (and probably more ice cream).
9:30pm – Head to our favorite spot downtown, a local jazz bar called Bebop. More affectionately known as Tuba Bar for all the brass instruments hanging from the ceiling.
11:30pm – Head back to the dorms, get some sleep!
As you can see, our days were pretty packed. On some days we had longer outings that would start at 9am and go until 4 or 5pm and our longest bike trip was about 50 miles and included a stop at a beach. We definitely managed to do a lot in 5 weeks!
Until next time, doei!
