Week 1 – Housing and Classmates
The hall I’m currently living in is simply known as Hall 16. I know that a couple of newer residential buildings have special names, but one of my friends says it’s like any other living space. There’s not much to be said about it outside the fact that the walkways are open, so interesting insects fly around during the nighttime. It only becomes an issue if they somehow sneak into my room, but that rarely happens.
Finding other friends is both quite easy and quite difficult depending on how you look at it. Finding friends is no different from any other school; you find people at orientation, some of them are in other classes while some of them are not, and you typically stick with a small group fairly quickly. The exchange program has several students who enjoy the night life here, but I’d rather keep things low key (and not spend 8$ on alcohol, not that I’d drink of course!). All-in-all I’ve been slowly settling in, but I feel comfortable at this pace.
