Week 2: Food
Meals here are not very different from meals at home, with the exception of time. Restaurant etiquette is very similar, and portions seem fairly comparable, but we eat dinner after 8 pm almost every day, which is later than the usual 6 pm I have at home.
Breakfast is available everyday in the hotel, but for lunch and dinner I go out with various people from the group. There are many restaurants here, ranging from places with plates available for under 2 USD all the way up to nearly 20 USD for the cheapest food. We all tend to eat at the former more often.
I love the flan here! I’ve tried it at about 4 different places by now, and it is always so good. Flan is a dairy dish with caramelized sugar and a type of syrup on it that is very popular in Latin America, and definitely my favorite food so far.
