COVID-19 Updates as of 3/14/20
March 20, 2020
Northeastern University continues to monitor global health updates and disruptions related to COVID-19. Over the past few days, we have seen several countries place restrictions on international flights and/or travelers. We understand that this is a stressful time for all. Because we cannot predict future disruptions, we are requiring that all students on Northeastern programs abroad depart and return to your home of record/primary residence.
The university will provide support for you to do so if needed. We request you speak to your family or support system about developing a plan to return home. You should also speak with your airline if you already have a return ticket to see if it can be altered.
If you need assistance booking your flight, please complete the request form here: Advantage Travel Flight Request Form (Note: you will be asked for a credit card number but will not be charged) We ask for patience due to high volume.
If there is an urgent travel need, please reach out to [email protected].
If you are in your home country, or believe there are other extenuating circumstances that necessitate your stay in country, please respond to this email to discuss. If you stay in country, you will be required to sign a waiver.
You will need to inform us of your departure date by the end of the day (local time) on Monday, March 16th. However, we urge you to make travel plans as soon as possible as the movement restrictions are occurring at a rapid pace.
Students should contact [email protected] and [email protected] to discuss, if you have questions, or need to provide your details regarding departure.
GEO Advisors and co-op coordinators will work with you to determine next steps for the duration of the semester. We regret the impact of this on global opportunities; however, the health and wellbeing of our students, faculty and staff remain our first priority.
Warmest,
Khushal H. Safi
