When most people think about studying abroad I’m pretty sure it’s safe to assume most ideally want to go to Europe. And for a little, I always thought I would end up in Barcelona. It was until I was on the study abroad page that I realized I wanted something a little different for myself. My friend had done a backpacking trip where one of the stops was in Thailand. I remember when she showed me pictures of her trip and I knew at one point in my life that I wanted to explore this country. So why not use studying abroad to my advantage? That’s why I chose Thailand, for the beaches, the jungles and wildlife, and incredible cities. It has it all—it only takes a strong sense of adventure to see the place in its entirety. While I’m here, I hope to take on the lifestyle of a backpacker as well as immerse myself in the culture while on campus with the other students. I’m using this as an opportunity to have a cross-cultural education as well as see new and beautiful places.
