But the adventure and view of London was gorgeous!
Being fortunate enough to see both London and Dublin, I have experienced a variety of events and seen many profound monuments and areas of the cities. The most notable for me was the London Eye. There wasn’t really history behind it, but the adventure and view of London was gorgeous. My friends and I went on a slightly cloudy day, but to me that truly is the feeling of London. It is not always constantly sunny and bright out; the majority of the time it is actually quite cloudy. I saw a magnificent view of Tower Bridge, Big Ben, and the Thames River and was able to take a ton of great pictures!
Earlier this week however, we traveled out of Dublin to Glendalough. There we got to see a very prominent monastery in the earliest years of recorded human history. We saw what is called a ’round tower’ which is a style of tower specific to Ireland, used to denote religious sites. We also learned a great deal about St. Patrick and his significance in history in Ireland. After this we took a two hour hike up through the national park there in Glendalough and saw beautiful views of faraway mountains, and of the greens below that we were standing on just a few hours prior. It was an absolutely beautiful area, rich in history, that I adored so much.
At the end of this week we will also be traveling to Galway. It is a quaint city located on the western coast of Ireland, directly opposite to Dublin. I’m excited because it is supposed to be a very relaxed and peaceful place. I hope it surpasses my expectations!
