Danish Mealtime

Overall, I wouldn’t say that meals in Copenhagen are that different from the meals in Boston. Given that both are bigger cities, it isn’t too surprising that there is a wide variety of food to choose from. In the center of Copenhagen, there are mostly little cafes and bistros where you can get small meals like sandwiches. There are also a lot of sushi, shawarma, and Italian places around the city. It’s also common to find a lot of Latin American food trucks. One of the best places to eat is at the Papiroen food market. There are dozens of stalls inside where you can buy anything from Korean bbq to homemade cheesecake. The one Danish food you can find there is smorrebrod, which is an open-faced sandwich on rye bread.

Danish Creativity

While I can’t name many quintessentially Danish foods besides smorrebrod and coffee are important here. There are so many cafes in Copenhagen that serve some of the best coffee I’ve had.

Kanelbullar

The only problem with the food here is the price; everything is expensive in Denmark, and especially Copenhagen. Because of this, I don’t go out to eat too often with my college student budget. I cook most of my meals at home, which is easy to do since my housing is close to 4 different supermarkets.
