Excursions in Germany

Hi everyone! As of Saturday, my dialogue has moved onto France. However, for this post I will be talking about some excursions that my class has taken in Germany since that’s been where the majority of our trip has occurred.

One of my favorite excursions was in Berlin where we were able to walk around and decide which museums to visit. The first place we visited was a stone memorial that was meant to look like a cornfield from above, here’s a picture of it:

The Holocaust Memorial

A couple classmates and I visited the Berlin Wall and then made our way over to a nearby museum called the Topography of Terror. This was a fairly small museum; one story high, and you just walked around it in a circle. It was really interesting to me because it had a lot of propaganda articles from the Nazi regime which was really fitting with what we are learning in class.

A more recent excursion that we have gone on was to the Hambach Castle. This was absolutely gorgeous to see and had some really nice views of the area. There was a museum inside that was very interactive. You could try on some old fashioned clothes or learn how to make a German pin out of a ribbon. After we visited the castle we got to go to a wine tasting in a very cute little village area. I love the smaller areas of Germany because the architecture is so unique and cute.

My dialogue has been to so many different cities that it’s beginning to blur together! We are in our 8th city so far and we still have quite a few more. I look forward to the many adventures that we still have on this trip and recounting them here.
