Favorite Places in Iceland

It has been a whirlwind in terms of visiting new places and experiences new landmarks in Iceland. I have gone to so many different places that it makes it nearly impossible to pick just one that I like the most. If I have to pick, I would say my favorite landmark so far would have to be the Goðafoss, which means waterfall of the Gods in Icelandic. It was a spectacular sight and the water falls from a height of 12 meters there. Iceland has many waterfalls to offer, but this one stood out to me because of it’s quick flow and width. I ended up taking most of my footage at this location for my studio class, and was able to sit and appreciate it far from other people on a beautiful Iceland day.

Recently, we had a field trip out of Skagaströnd to the island of Drangey. The island looks like a scene out of Jurassic park: untouched nature with a vast amount of bird life living in the cracks of the cliffs. This is where our group finally saw the puffin, Iceland’s favorite bird! We took on the challenge of climbing up steep rocks for about an hour to reach the top of the island. The hard hike was worth the effort though, since we were able to witness a beautiful landscape of flowers and green grass with a view of the ocean and mountains of Iceland. It was one of my favorite excursions yet and solidifies my desire to come back to Iceland at some point in my life. This place just has so much to offer.
