Food
So far, I have actually been eating most of my meals at home since there are so many grocery stores nearby. Most of the food here is just like what we eat in America. We eat breakfast before class and then lunch between our two classes. It is much cheaper to cook at home than to eat out everyday though! Also, nothing has really stood out to me yet and I don’t think Scotland is really known for their food or anything like that. For dinner we go out to eat as a group once a week and we also are going to try have a potluck every week as well. We have also tried out a few cafes as well between classes and those are all super cute. I have not noticed any huge difference in meal times and structure. I feel like portion sizes are probably smaller here though.
I don’t think there is much distinct food in Scotland, everything seems pretty similar to what we eat in America. Haggis, some type of pudding made of sheep pluck, is the only dish I have heard of that is native to the Scottish. But since I am a vegetarian, I won’t be trying that.
I also noticed that they serve a lot of couscous here, whether it’s mixed in a salad or as a side, but I do not know if that is a European thing or just in Scotland. I personally am not a big fan of it.
