Forming Relationships
Studying in London has been an absolute blast so far. My flat is situated in the center of the city, near Westminster, which means walking is my principal means of transportation. Within my flat is a sizeable kitchen with decent appliances, a double bedroom, and pretty nice bathrooms. Obviously a double isn’t my ideal rooming situation — primarily because I’ve had a taste of single-room, off-campus living in Boston — but it’s really not bad at all! The rooms are spacious enough, and the living quarters are conducive to relationship-building among the scholars.
The City of London is easy to get around, and it certainly helps that my flat is so central. Walking to the LSE campus and to Westminster is a blissful twenty minutes along the Thames. The weather is extraordinary in the city this summer, so my day-to-day strolls have been less of a chore and more of a dream.
Like I said previously, forming relationships with the other scholars has been exceptionally easy because of the close living quarters and heavily structured academic program. We walk to class, explore the city, and hang out with each other. Spending time with each other is a given, and I knew that there would be people here I would inevitably get along with.
All in all, I’m still having an amazing time participating in this program and know I will enjoy myself until its conclusion.
