Get Out and Explore

I’ve had some pretty great experiences while here in London. London isn’t the most walkable city but it has some pretty amazing sights in all of it neighborhoods. The best advice I could give to anyone on how to travel locally the right way is simple. Pick a tube stop to get off at and then just walk around. Literally, that’s it. I have found so many cool destinations by doing this. For instance, one time, my friends and I went for a walk to the park that was down the street from our accommodation and found a children’s carnival in town. It was interesting to be immersed in that type of cultural experience and to see the differences and similarities that we have with them. Also, getting off at Portabello Road, Camden Town, Covent Garden and London Bridge tube stops, let you off near some amazing markets which were mostly artisan based. I loved walking around these because it was easy to talk to the stand owners and see the passion they had for their respective crafts.
Exploring is fun but it is also important to make sure that you are being safe as you do so. Some general tips are to always watch your surroundings. The city of London will always have signs up where theft and pickpocketing are a problem but I would just say to make sure you are being cautious everywhere. Never have valuable belonging just hanging or outside of your bag and always make sure your bag is zipped up and in front of you (if it’s a small personal bag).
