In each of the four cities we are going to we will be staying in 4/5 star hotels. We are sharing a room with one other person from the program and we get free breakfast every morning. In Prague, our hotel is centrally located and within walking distance of both the Old and the New Town. The hotel itself is really nice, with tall ceilings and modern decorations. Our hotel in Warsaw, where we will be staying for the longest part of our trip, has a pool, spa, and recreational activities. We also get three meals a day from the hotel restaurant.

With only 15 students in the group, it has been relatively easy so far to get to know everyone. We all explored the area together the first day and have gone out in large groups to get lunch and dinner. By staying in the same places and seeing each other everyday in class or on tour, I imagine we will all get to know each other pretty well.

I am a rising second year International Affairs and Economics major and going on a Dialogue to the Czech Republic and Poland. This program focuses on the 20th century in Eastern Europe from World War II to the Cold War. I chose this Dialogue because I wanted to immerse myself in a different culture and learn about important events in history from a different perspective. I am excited to be able to study one of my favorite topics in depth and in the region where all of these events took place. By the end of my study abroad experience I hope to have developed new language skills that will be useful back home as well as an appreciation for another country’s customs and history.
