Living in Ballyvaughan, Ireland
Living in Ballyvaughan is like living in a fairytale.
My group and I live in 4 different condos at the Burren Atlantic Hotel near the ocean in Ballyvaughan. Each one consists of four bedrooms, a kitchen, a living room, three bathrooms, a washer/dryer unite and an outdoor patio. I live in condo #13 with three other Northeastern students. Anisa is a 2nd year computer science and design major. Mairead is a graduating nursing major. Allie is a 5th year studio art major. It’s very interesting and enjoyable to live with a variety of students with different interests and educational pursuits.
The condos are surrounded by hills, trees, and roaming cattle. I can hear the sheep and cows at night and smell the natural scent of the trees all around. It’s like something out of a painting.
In addition to my housemates, I’ve become good friends with the rest of the students on my trip as well. Our condos are within 5 feet of each other, so it’s very easy to hangout and see each other often. We also see each other every week day in the studios when we go to the Burren College of Art. Our professor, Mira Cantor, puts us in groups often to completely daily projects. This is a great way to get to know one another and work with students studying and majoring in different things.
On Saturday we are spending the weekend in Galway and then we take a mini vacation to Dublin in a few weeks. We are 1/3 of the way through the trip but I’m very excited to see what the rest of Ireland has to offer!
