Living with other Northeastern Students
While abroad, I am living in a French Student Residence with six other Northeastern Students. The residence consists of single apartment rooms that have a bathroom and a small kitchen. The area we are in the 6th arrondissement. Around our building is the Tète D’Or Park which is pretty famous here as well as the Rhône River and Bellecour. I have had some time to explore the neighborhood and have found that there are a bunch of pâtisseries, or pastry shops, as well as Bouchons, which serve the traditional Lyonnais food that Lyon is well known for.
I really like the area we are in as it is easy to cross the river where there are a lot of shops and sites to see. The buildings are old looking but beautiful, and there is a walking path along the river that is really nice in terms of seeing the city.
It ended up that I already knew the six other students that are in my residence and we have been doing a lot together. It is more difficult to meet the other students as they live a decent distance away, but I hope that over our time here I will get to know them better! I have briefly met some of the French students as well and they were very kind to us. I hope I get to know more of the French students as they know a whole lot more about Lyon and would be able to recommend things to do throughout my time here.
