My home in Skagaströnd, Iceland.

Three weeks of my dialogue will be spent living in Skagaströnd, a small town on the North coast of Iceland. Currently there are 520 people who live in this town and it is incredibly quaint. The houses, typical of Iceland, are very colorful and bright, and the people are very friendly. I live with five of my classmates in a white house with blue trim that has a huge open backyard and a view of the local mountain, Spánskanöf. The house is a 10 minute walk from our studio, and generally I can walk anywhere in town in about 15 minutes. Skagaströnd is clearly a community where everyone knows everyone and I like the small town feel of living here. The locals are all very excited to get to know the American artists!IMG_1099

There are 16 students on this dialogue, and we spend most of our time together either in the studio or exploring the town. Since our first week together was incredibly hectic and travel heavy, we all bonded while spending time on the bus or during each night in the hotel. In a place like Iceland, it’s nice to talk about our experience and remind ourselves how crazy it is here. Most of the students are graphic design majors or minors, but they have welcomed the less experienced, like myself, in with open arms. I’m incredibly lucky.
