Our Place and Friends in Ghana
The housing setup is surprisingly nice. We’re being housed at the University of Ghana – Legon Guesthouses. I’m rooming with one of our TA’s, Danny. Our place has a nice little air conditioner, but it hasn’t been too necessary so far because the weather has been pretty cool and cloudy. The Guesthouse facilities are pretty cool too. There have been a few visiting PhD students, professors and artists that are also staying on the same property, so it’s been interesting to interact with others studying in Ghana for a short time also.
The others in my group have been great. The gender ratio is a pretty interesting thing to deal with. There are only 4 males and 18 females in the group, but everything has been going great, and not to mention I never have to wait for others to finish up in the bathroom. This group has been extremely close, and we’ve all gotten to know each other really well considering it’s only been a few days. We travel by bus (22 people strong) everywhere, and I think we all feel comfortable sitting next to anyone and talking about whatever we feel like. All in all, the living situation and the people have been fantastic. Going into the trip, these were the two things I was most concerned about, but I’ve been pleasantly surprised on both accounts.
