Professors and Support Staff in Granada

The support staff at API Granada are extremely helpful. Curra and Carmen are both usually in the API office, which is only a few minutes from school, and are always happy to help with course questions, travel plans, host family issues, or just to chat. The API office is open Monday-Thursday 10-6 and Fridays 10-2, and both Curra and Carmen are available by email.

I changed almost my entire schedule of classes my first week, and they were both very helpful and didn’t get annoyed when I switched in and out of a class twice. Curra has given advice on hiking excursions in Granada, and Carmen often posts in our Facebook group about cool events going on in town.

My professors are all genuinely smart, patient, and interesting. So far, my favorite professor is my Spanish Civilization and Culture professor, Cristina Vara Ocon. She does not give homework, but instead encourages us to use our free time to explore Granada and the rest of Spain, and learn about the culture first-hand. She always offers advice and tips of where to visit in Spain, and I feel like her class has been the most useful while living in Spain. This class is taught in Spanish, and she always speaks slow and clear enough for all of us to understand.
