Seville Landmarks
Seville has so many fantastic landmarks throughout the city that it’s hard to choose a favorite! One that stands out to me is an art structure called Las Setas which encompasses an entire plaza in the center of Seville. There is space beneath it where there are many shops and bars, and you can even go on top of the structure, giving you an amazing view of the city. This is a great place to hang out, take pictures, and get something to eat! This sculpture stands out in Seville is that it’s one of few landmarks that doesn’t have a huge historical significance to it, but I love it nonetheless.
My program has taken us on tours through many of the other landmarks throughout Spain. Two of the coolest were the Plaza de España and The Cathedral of Seville. The Plaza is a beautiful area in the middle of a park with a small manmade river that you can take row boats out onto and a huge fountain encompassed by a U-shaped building commemorating different cities and provinces from across Spain with beautiful architecture and mosaics. The cathedral is the third largest cathedral in the world! It was amazing to take a tour of the hugely important building that houses the body of Cristopher Columbus and San Fernando, who reconquered Seville from the Muslims, among other people important to Spanish history. Attached to the cathedral is a tower called La Giralda that you can climb to get another awesome view of Seville. Other fun tours have included the royal palace of Seville and a walk by the river that cuts through the city, and I still have so much more to see here, not to mention in other cities throughout Spain!
