Transportation

The walk from class to the room our class is in is about 15 minutes. Today was my first day of class and it has been raining all day so it was not too fun of a walk. It was in the conference room of a hotel on campus. We have one class from 9:00-11:00 and the second from 1:30-3:30. This gave me enough time to be able to go back home and take a nap because I am still so jet lagged!

I have not taken any public transportation yet, I do see the buses going around the city all the time though. One single pass is about 1.60 pounds, which is pretty close to how much it is in Boston. My classmates have been buying bus passes because it’s a better deal, but I am not sure how often I will end up using the bus since I really enjoy just walking around everywhere.

My program while on this DOC is Field Study of Economic Integration. My biggest study abroad goal is just to become culturally aware of how different everything is in Scotland. I hope to learn lots about the traditions and customs of the locals and just to see how their way of life is. This opportunity is more than just the classroom experience, it is something that I hope will shape me into a more aware and open-minded individual. I chose to study abroad to push myself out of my comfort zone. I live relatively close to Northeastern so I have never really had to adapt to a new environment when I came to college. This experience will hopefully give me the responsibility of adjusting to a new location graphically and culturally.
