Transportation
I am very lucky to be living in central Seville as it is only a 10 minute walk to my school, CLIC. Me and my roommate walk there and back every day, rain or shine. Some of my classmates on this dialogue are 20 or 30 minutes away from the school, I can’t imagine how early they would have to leave! Some may even take taxis which would start to add up to be pretty costly.
If I am traveling somewhere more than 25-30 minutes away I usually hail a taxi. They are very common in the streets and as long as they have a green light that says “libre” you can just wave and they will take you wherever you want to go. There is also an app called MyTaxi which is like an Uber system for taxis in Spain. It’s great because you can just put in your card details and pay from your phone and you will always get an electronic receipt. However, you need wifi to use it which you may not have all the time.
I know there are trains and buses but I have yet to use them. The one exception is that my service learning group takes the school bus back from the private school at which we work once a week. It is a nice bus but I doubt it’s similar to a public bus. I know I will be taking a train and/or a bus when we go for day trips to Cadiz or Cordoba but I don’t know how expensive, fast or comfortable they are just yet.
