Typical Weekday in Japan

Andrew Cha
June 17, 2015

My typical weekday here in Japan starts with me waking up at 7AM sharp. I take a shower and get ready by 7:45AM. Next, I get breakfast from a wide variety of places. On days that I am prepared early, I stop by Bagel and Bagel, a small bagel shop with a killer BLT. On days where I am on time or a little late, I’ll stop by McDonald’s for their breakfast menu. Lastly on day that I am really late, I will stop by one of the numerous convenience stores, found literally on every 20150610_115556block, for some pastries and rice balls. After breakfast, it is off to class at Meiji University. The University is a 10 minute walk away from the hotel so it is not an arduous walk. The class at Meiji is usually 2 lectures by either a professor at Meiji or Northeastern. The two lectures usually end at about 1PM and it is off to lunch. There are just so many options for lunch here in Japan. I can write a whole book about all the options available. I went to a different place every day. A generalization of all the options would be Sushi, Ramen, Gyoza, Pasta, Pizza, Hamburgers, and many more. The list goes on and on. After lunch, I will head back to the hotel and rest until 3PM. At 3PM, we go on a site visit. The site visits range from key Shrines to huge shopping districts. There is a lot of variety in the site visits. They all end up being very fun. Usually the site are very close by the subway. We visit the sites until it is dinner time and then we break off for free time. I usually spent my free time visiting places like Shibuya and Akihabara, two huge shopping districts and tourist attractions. There were times though, that I was too tired. You end up walking a lot in Japan, so you are bound to be tired. Once I return back to the hotel, I usually work on school work or go to sleep right away. It is very important to rest up. This is a succinct overview of my typical weekday. If there is one thing to keep in mind of, it is the fact that your day is going to be fun.
