Week 2 – Transportation
Although NTU is a gigantic campus, I have little trouble finding my way around my classes. One of them is only a 5-minute walk from my dorm, and I can take a 5-minute bus ride to my other class. The school’s bus service that runs from 6am to 11pm, getting in, out, and around campus is OK even outside of classes. The only down side is that the service is infrequent. I’d have to sometimes wait quite a bit just to get on one of the campus loops, and even longer if I want to get into the station.
The public transit, however, is an absolute godsend. Trains arrive in 5-minute intervals at the maximum, and the buses are equally frequent. Train rides go from 77 cents to 2 dollars (long distance) and there’s always an info desk if you need any help. The only downside is that top-ups are $10 minimum, so I always have to make sure I’m carrying enough money in case of an emergency top-up. The money can be refunded, however, so I won’t have any dead money on the card once I go back home.
