Semester In and Summer In Programs - Make Your Next Move

Semester In gives undergraduate Northeastern students the chance to fast‑track their future with a full semester at one of our global network campuses. Immerse yourself in a new city while earning Northeastern credits and gaining real‑world experience through industry site visits, guest speakers, alumni and networking events, and regional co‑op opportunities.

Summer In is an immersive program that lets Northeastern undergraduates earn eight credits toward their major, minor, or concentration at one of our global campuses during Summer 1 or 2. Go beyond the classroom with local industry connections, cultural exploration, and one-of-a-kind networking—all while staying on track or even accelerating your path to graduation.

Northeastern’s Semester In program connects your organization with career-ready students eager to contribute to real-world work.

Semester In is a collaborative model that brings together students, faculty, and industry partners to solve real-world problems in real time.

Whether you’re in tech, consulting, finance, healthcare, or the nonprofit sector, your organization can connect directly with ambitious, skilled students eager to make an impact. Our partnership model is designed to be flexible, scalable, and aligned to your goals.

Here’s how we work together:

Eligible students complete a 4–6 month, full-time work experience in the spring following their fall Semester In coursework. These experiences are:

  • Paid or unpaid, depending on scope
  • On-site, hybrid, or remote
  • Project-based or role-based

Students apply classroom knowledge in areas like:

  • Computer Science and Software Development
  • Data Science and Analytics
  • Business Strategy and Market Research
  • AI and Machine Learning
  • Product Management

Short on bandwidth, big on ideas? Collaborate with faculty to create a semester-long challenge or sprint project where students:

  • Conduct industry research
  • Prototype new ideas
  • Analyze data and make recommendations
  • Build or test MVPs

These engagements can be scoped in as little as one conversation, and Northeastern can facilitate the match and oversight.

Partners also support the student experience by:

  • Offering guest lectures or workshops
  • Hosting students on site for shadowing or exposure
  • Providing mentorship and feedback during projects

Let’s Build Something Together
