A Typical Day in Lund
In this week’s blog post I want to walk you through a typical day of an exchange student at Lund University.
When I wake up, I make coffee and breakfast in my studio apartment, and then leave for my 8:00am class at 8:00am. If this sounds irresponsible to you, I should mention that all classes in Lund start after the “academic quarter,” which means that they start 15 minutes past the hour. I am usually in class either from 8-12pm or 1-3pm, but the amount of lecture time for courses at Lund is less than at Northeastern. During my lunch, I may run home to my apartment for something quick, or go to one of the Student Nations on campus which serve cheap lunches on different days of the week.
My afternoons are usually spent studying or working on assignments. I often like to go to a library or study room in one of the engineering buildings, where I can make use of study tables and refuel with coffee from the cafe as needed. When I get closer to dinner, I will usually make a trip to one of the nearby grocery stores for some last minute ingredients. A couple times during the week I will get together with some other friends in my corridor to share a meal together.
After dinner I will often head out to any number of events, which include ultimate frisbee practices with the local team or perhaps a pub night at one of the Student Nations. The 12 different Student Nations at Lund offer a variety of different events throughout the week and on the weekend which greatly contribute to the social lives of students. Then again, sometimes I have to stay in and finish my studying for the day.
