Quite the Change
In addition to myself, there are nine other people attending Salzburg College. For those of you bad at math, that makes a total of 10…After attending Northeastern, this made quite the change. It has, however, been very easy to meet people in my group. We spent the first week exploring Munich all together and basically had to become friends.
Six of us, me included, live in a dorm called the Salzburger Lehrerhaus. I share a room with another American student attending Salzburg College. The room and bathroom are both pretty small, but we make do with the space we have. The best part about living here are the chefs that cook for us on weekdays; there is nothing better than coming back to a fresh, hot meal. There is also a laundry room, practice rooms for musicians, and three fitness rooms. It is a 25 minute or so walk to school, but that is better than what I had in Ireland during N.U.in, and I enjoy the exercise.
The other four students live in home-stays. They have to use public transportation to get to school, but on the other hand, live with a local who is able to help them get around and can immerse themselves in the German language. They are more isolated from the rest of us, however, which can make it harder to make friends, hence my decision to stay in the dorm. All together, there is a solution for every type of person I would say in terms of living conditions.
