Due to the small size of the college, there are only three support staff at the location, one of whom is often abroad as she is in charge of recruitment. I have really only interacted with one other, as he is also the teacher for Understanding Austria, which was a required course. He also has accompanied us on almost all of our excursions. The third has not interacted all that much with us on a daily basis with the exception of going over the week’s schedule during a meeting every Monday.
In terms of teachers, I have only had two so far as Salzburg College is on a quarter system. Both were interesting in their own ways. For example, as mentioned before, I have interacted with my Understanding Austria teacher the most outside of class. This makes the learning experience continue outside of the actual classroom. It is also a much more equal relationship between all of the students and the teacher in this regard. My only other teacher I have had so far was for German. She was very helpful and was great at explaining. She also made learning the language a lot of fun, even teaching us a little bit of the Austrian dialect. I am looking forward to interacting with different teachers outside of the college and gaining a better view of how education works at the university level in Austria.
