The easiest decision

The decision to go on a dialogue was one of the easiest ones I have ever made. The moment I learned about the program during accepted student day I knew I would go on one, the only question was which one. I have always had a desire to travel and this program gave me the opportunity to do so without the typical fears of going abroad, as flights, accommodation, and activities are already planned. I had studied Spanish in high school and always had a fascination and love for the Latin American culture. I knew I wanted to study in South America but also wanted to take classes related to my major (mechanical engineering). This dialogue was the perfect match, combining a Chilean culture class with a medical imaging systems class. My main goal while studying abroad is to improve my Spanish skills. As I am staying in a homestay where nobody speaks English this shouldn’t be too difficult. However, I am worried about my ability to get around the city on my own as my communication skills are so low. I am truly looking forward to living with a Chilean family and tasting the local food!
