World-Class Public Transportation
When I am not in classes, I’m exploring Singapore. So far, I visited the Esplanade, Gardens by the Bay, National Museum of Singapore, Marina Bay Sands and Sentosa since I arrived and all of which are easily accessible by MRT. Ahhh, the MRT, it is the epitome of world-class public transportation. I love it so much because I never have to worry about it not being on time or it breaking down or it smelling it rotten eggs (or worse). It is clean and reliable and so are the buses!
Normally, I skip the MRT and take the bus to SMU and it is so convenient because I can check on an app for the precise arrival times. In total, it takes about 25 minutes door to door. I do have the option to take the MRT but I am too lazy to walk 10 minutes every day to the closest MRT stop when the bus stop is just a couple steps from my condo’s entrance.
Now that I’ve share my deep love for Singapore’s public transportation, let me share the thing I like least about it: no eating or drinking on public transportation. Yep, you read it right, no food or drinks or one will be fined. I guess it makes sense to maintain cleanliness. I also find it quite interesting because it is just second nature for me to have a sip of coffee or water on the T in Boston. Other than that one rule, Singapore’s public transportation is just amazing. I will definitely miss it when I leave.
